It is so hard and robust that it makes the softer coloured lead up to 50% stronger and increases break-resistance by up to 30%. The protective coating forms a white ring around the visible lead tip, protecting it from children’s tendency to press too hard when colouring. At the same time, the white ring is a symbol of recognition for the innovative STAEDTLER coloured pencil with the extraordinary A•B•S protective coating. Coloured pencils will be especially needed on May 6th for World Kids Colouring Day. On this day, children from around the world will be called upon to draw and colour pictures then sell them to friends or family with the proceeds going to a very good cause. 2008’s proceeds were donated to Save the Children’s “Rewrite the Future” in Columbia project.
